It was at Greenwich, a World Heritage Site, that longitude was invented, and you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere. Take a journey through space and time at the Peter Harrison Planetarium and learn about the science of astronomy in the Royal Observatory. The views over Docklands and towards the City from the top of the hill are spectacular.

Britain's rich seafaring history is on show at the National Maritime Museum, where stories of naval battles, famous explorers, and the life of Admiral Lord Nelson, are vividly brought to life. Architects Wren, Hawksmoor and Vanbrugh were responsible for the beautiful buildings of the Greenwich Hospital, a dramatic set-piece running down to the Thames. Look over the Cutty Sark, the last surviving tea clipper and the fastest in her day.
