Heritage & Highlights of Stratford-upon-Avon

It's a lovely drive up through Oxfordshire and Warwickshire to reach the hotel before dinner.

Sulgrave Manor, lived in by the direct ancestors of George Washington, the first President of the USA, is a wonderful example of a tudor and Georgian house brought to life through the remarkable story of an extraordinary family. On our morning visit today you'll see round the house and garden and enjoy tea or coffee and cake.

The afternoon is spent in Banbury, a fine market town famed for the 'Fine Lady upon a White Horse' statue immortalising the town's famous nursery rhyme, "Ride a Cock Horse."

Stratford-upon-Avon adn Shakespeare are inseparable and we'll begin our experience of this famous town with a guided sightseeing cruise on the Avon river with tea/coffee and biscuits served on board.

In the afternoon you can explore Stratford at your own pace. You might like to look round the house where the Bard was born, see where he went to school and visit Anne Hathaway's picturesque cottage - Anne became Shakespeare's wife in 1852.

After breakfast we'll be making our way back to Brighton with suitable stops along the way.
